Toronto fails to sign Paxton

2009 supplemental first rounder James Paxton and the Toronto Blue Jays could not come to terms and the lefthander will return to Kentucky for another season. Paxton, a client of agent Scott Boras, was drafted 37th overall with one of the compensation picks the Jays received for the New York Yankees signing AJ Burnett.

The Jays were also unable to sign second round pick Jake Eliopoulos a Newmarket, ON native and third rounder Jake Barrett.
